MP Mwengi Mutuse Rallies Support for Development-Focused Leadership in Kitui East

Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse on Wednesday made a powerful call for unity and development-focused leadership during a high-profile women empowerment event held in zombe, Kitui East Constituency. The occasion was graced by Deputy President Hon. Kithure Kindiki and attended by hundreds of residents from the region.

In his address, Hon. Mutuse emphasized the need to uplift women as a strategic way of combating poverty and unlocking economic potential at the grassroots level.

“We were here to empower our women so as to reduce household poverty and create income,” Mutuse said, acknowledging the central role women play in community development.

The legislator drew a clear distinction between what he termed as “two groups of leaders” in Kenya today—those committed to unity and development, and those he accused of promoting tribalism and division.

“In Kenya, there are two groups of leaders: those who want development and unity of the country led by President William Ruto, and the other that is advocating for tribalism, division, and hatred,” he stated.

He commended the residents of Kitui East for embracing the vision of progress and inclusivity, saying, “I’m happy that the people of Kitui East have chosen to walk with us who envision development and unity.”

Mutuse urged the community to reject outdated political ideologies and rally behind leaders who are focused on delivering tangible development and economic opportunities for all Kenyans.

“We want to unite Kenyans so as to accelerate economic growth and opportunities for our people. We urge our people to change tact this time round and try a new brand of politics,” he said.

The event marked a significant moment in the ongoing push by government-aligned leaders to strengthen their political presence in regions traditionally viewed as opposition strongholds, while also reinforcing the national government’s bottom-up economic agenda.I

Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, who also holds the OGW (Order of the Grand Warrior) honor, remains a vocal proponent of unity, economic empowerment, and transformative leadership across the country.
