Makali Mulu Tightens Grip on Mwingi Region as 2027 Race Heats Up

Kitui Central MP and 2027 gubernatorial frontrunner, Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, CBS, is fast emerging as the man to beat after pulling a massive show of support in Tharaka Ward, Mwingi North Constituency, where he joined worshippers at Ciampiu Pentecostal Church for Sunday service.

The economist-turned-politician, who has consistently been ranked among the most development-conscious MPs in the country, used the fellowship to rally the faithful behind prayers for the nation while subtly affirming his countywide reach.

“I humbly urge the church to continue praying for our country and our leaders, and also to keep me in your prayers as I continue with my gubernatorial journey,” Dr. Mulu said, drawing loud applause from congregants.

His message, simple yet powerful, has become his political brand resonating with both the church and the grassroots. By setting foot in the heart of Mwingi, a region considered a decisive political bloc, Dr. Mulu has sent a clear signal: his gubernatorial campaign is not a Central Kitui affair but a countywide movement.

Observers note that while many aspirants are still struggling to penetrate beyond their backyards, Dr. Mulu has already established a commanding presence across Kitui, blending his reputation for accountability with a unifying vision that cuts across regions.

In recent months, his political star has continued to rise, with growing endorsements from religious leaders, professionals, and ordinary citizens alike. His entry into Mwingi North traditionally a hotly contested ground appears to have unsettled rivals who now face the reality of a well-organized, countywide campaign machine.

As the 2027 race begins to take shape, the momentum is firmly with Dr. Mulu. His ability to lock Mwingi while maintaining dominance in Kitui Central positions him as the most formidable candidate, with grassroots support that few can match.
