Ikanga–Kyatune MCA Cyrus Musyoka “Sonko” Slams Kenya Kwanza, Calls for Unity Behind Kalonzo in 2027

Ikanga–Kyatune Ward MCA Cyrus Musyoka, popularly known as Sonko, has launched a scathing attack on the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing it of failing to fulfill key promises to Kenyans, particularly in the equitable distribution of county funds.

Speaking during a live interview on a popular Kamba radio station, Sonko lamented that counties continue to face serious financial constraints because the national government is dragging its feet in disbursing funds. He noted that this has paralyzed essential services, leaving county leadership struggling to meet citizen needs.

The outspoken MCA further recalled the nationwide protests earlier this year, in which Gen-Z demonstrators took to the streets over the high cost of living. He accused the Kenya Kwanza government of responding with brutality, leading to the deaths of several young people. “Up to today, the cost of living remains unbearable, and Kenyans continue to suffer,” he said.

On the country’s rising debt, Sonko criticized the government for excessive borrowing, arguing that the projects being undertaken do not reflect the billions being borrowed. “The figures we see in loans are not justified by the work on the ground,” he said.

Sonko’s remarks struck a chord with his constituents, who praised him for what they described as hard work and dedication. Residents of Ikanga–Kyatune noted that he has not only delivered on many of his pledges but is also striving to achieve 100 percent of his promises.

He also appealed to fellow MCAs to work closely with Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe instead of engaging in blame games, stressing that unity within county leadership is vital for development.

In his closing remarks, Sonko rallied the Kamba community to stand firmly behind Wiper Party leader H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka in his 2027 presidential bid. “Kalonzo is the only leader who can rescue Kenya from the current challenges,” he declared, urging Kambas to unite under the Wiper Patriotic Front as the community’s political vehicle.
