Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering commitment to promoting effective urban governance, sustainable development, and secure land ownership across the county.
Speaking while officially opening a sensitisation workshop bringing together all County Executive Committee (CEC) members, Governor Ndeti underscored the importance of coordinated action in shaping the future of Machakos towns under the theme:
“Enhancing Urban Governance, Implementation of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, KISIP2 Land Tenure Regularization Progress, and Machakos County Upgrading and Prevention Strategy.”
The Governor emphasized that the workshop marks a critical step in aligning county leadership toward shared goals of inclusive urban development, effective implementation of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, and the ongoing Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project Phase Two (KISIP2), which seeks to regularize land tenure for thousands of residents living in informal settlements.
“This engagement offers a crucial platform to build a shared understanding of effective urban management, guide the implementation of key laws and programs, and advance efforts toward secure land ownership and orderly settlement upgrading,” Governor Ndeti noted.
She added that her administration remains steadfast in strengthening coordination, accountability, and innovation to ensure Machakos becomes a model of excellence in urban planning and governance.
Governor Ndeti further reaffirmed her dedication to working hand in hand with all stakeholders including development partners, urban boards, and community representatives to realize a county where every resident enjoys dignity through organized, sustainable, and well-serviced towns.
“We are determined to transform Machakos into a county that stands tall as a benchmark for urban governance, infrastructure development, and sustainable human settlement planning,” she declared.
The workshop, which brought together top county officials, provided a platform for reviewing ongoing urban projects, identifying policy gaps, and developing strategies to enhance the livability and productivity of Machakos towns.
Governor Ndeti’s leadership continues to position Machakos as a trailblazer in inclusive urban transformation, where every initiative is anchored on her vision of delivering a prosperous, orderly, and people-centered county.
