Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has once again demonstrated her transformative leadership as the Chief Executive Officer of Machakos County by rolling out yet another ground-breaking agricultural program designed to uplift farmers and secure the county’s food systems.
Speaking at the Kasinga Farmers’ Cooperative Society Grounds, Governor Wavinya launched the Agripreneur Extension Model, a youth-driven, technology-enabled initiative that places Machakos at the forefront of modern, data-oriented farming.
Governor Wavinya emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Machakos County’s economy, noting that it sustains livelihoods, enhances food security, and fuels community growth. She reiterated that empowering farmers is central to her administration’s vision of a prosperous, self-sufficient county.
“Agriculture is the foundation of household income and a critical pillar for the well-being of our people. By supporting our farmers, we are securing the future of Machakos,” she affirmed.
Under her leadership, the county is deploying 170 trained agripreneurs who will work directly with farmers to offer training, digitize farm data, provide access to quality inputs, and open direct market linkages. The move marks a shift towards modern, efficient, and scalable farming systems that will benefit thousands of households.
In addition to launching the model, Governor Wavinya issued grants to various cooperative societies and newly formed farmers’ SACCOs, further enhancing the Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni initiative her flagship program focused on increasing food production and boosting farmer incomes.
The Governor also highlighted ongoing efforts including intensified livestock vaccination campaigns, strengthened agricultural extension services, and modernization of the coffee sector all part of her comprehensive approach to transforming agriculture from subsistence into a profitable enterprise.
Farmers, cooperatives, and youth agripreneurs hailed the Governor’s consistent commitment, describing her as a hands-on leader who understands the needs of Machakos residents and continuously invests in long-term growth.
With this transformative model, Governor Wavinya Ndeti has once again cemented her reputation as a visionary county CEO, steering Machakos toward sustainable agricultural prosperity and improved livelihoods for all.
