Makali Mulu Leads NG-CDF Bursary Issuance as Thousands of Students Benefit in Kyangwithya West and East Wards

Thousands of learners across Kyangwithya West and Kyangwithya East Wards have received a major boost after the Kitui Central National Government–Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) rolled out bursary allocations in the two wards, courtesy of Hon. Makali Mulu, CBS, MP and Incoming Governor of Kitui County in 2027.

In Kyangwithya West Ward, a total of 1,563 students benefited from the bursary exercise held at the Ithiani Chief’s Office. Hon. Makali Mulu presided over the event, reiterating his firm commitment to ensuring that no learner is locked out of education due to financial constraints.

He emphasized that education remains a key pillar in empowering families and securing the future of the country, noting that targeted bursary support plays a critical role in cushioning vulnerable households from the rising cost of education.

Parents, teachers, and local administrators welcomed the initiative, saying the bursaries will significantly ease the burden of school fees as learners prepare to report back for the new academic term

A similar bursary issuance exercise kicked off this morning and is continuing today, Wednesday, at Kwa Ukungu Grounds in Kyangwithya East Ward, Kitui Central Constituency. In this ward, 2,042 students are set to benefit from the NG-CDF bursary allocations.

The bursary structure prioritizes needy and vulnerable learners, with national school students receiving KSh 10,000, learners without parents receiving KSh 13,000, those with one parent receiving KSh 7,000, and learners with both parents receiving KSh 5,000.

Residents of Kyangwithya East lauded the program, describing it as timely and impactful, especially for families grappling with school fee challenges.

Across both wards, the bursary issuance reflects Hon. Makali Mulu’s continued dedication to investing in education as a tool for social transformation and inclusive development within Kitui Central Constituency.
