By Lower Eastern Digital Media

St. Ursula Tungutu Girls Secondary School celebrated its 50th anniversary in a colorful ceremony that brought together students, teachers, alumni, parents, and invited guests to mark five decades of academic excellence and holistic growth.

Speaking during the golden jubilee celebrations, the school principal, Jacklyne Kusunza, said the institution had made tremendous strides over the years and continued to perform well both academically and in co-curricular activities. She noted that the school had remained steadfast in its mission of empowering the girl child through quality education.

Kusunza emphasized that education was the foundation of every successful society, stating that investing in education was investing in the future. She observed that for the past five decades, St. Ursula Tungutu Girls had shaped thousands of young women into responsible citizens, professionals, and leaders serving in different sectors across the country and beyond.

She further highlighted that education not only equipped learners with knowledge and skills but also instilled discipline, confidence, and moral values necessary to navigate life’s challenges. According to her, an educated girl was an empowered woman capable of transforming her family and community.

During the celebrations, the school officially launched the St. Ursula Alumni Group, a move Kusunza described as a major milestone in strengthening ties between former students and the institution. She said the alumni association would play a key role in mentoring current students, supporting development projects, and preserving the school’s rich heritage.

The principal reiterated that the school was doing well, citing improved academic performance, infrastructural development, and a supportive learning environment as evidence of progress. She commended teachers, parents, sponsors, and the board of management for their continued dedication and teamwork.

The 50th anniversary served not only as a moment of reflection on the school’s journey but also as a renewed commitment to excellence in education. As St. Ursula Tungutu Girls stepped into its next chapter, the message from the leadership was clear: education remained the most powerful tool for change, and the school was determined to continue nurturing generations of empowered and enlightened young women.
