A Year Later, MP Kaki Nyamai’s Case Still Haunts My Life,” Says Maleve

HOPKIN Digital CEO Emmanuel Maleve used this year’s Labour Day to deliver a sharp political statement, recounting what he described as a year of suffering following his arrest on May 1 last year. He accused Kitui South leaders, particularly MP Rachael Kaki Nyamai, of using state machinery to suppress dissent and civic education.

Maleve said the arrest led to depression, financial struggles, and social isolation, claiming clients and associates distanced themselves out of fear. He also alleged inhumane treatment while in detention.
Despite the ordeal, he credited his lawyer Evans Ondiek, family, and close allies for their support.
He went on to criticize local leadership, accusing them of arrogance, neglect, and exploiting youth for political gain.

Drawing comparisons with areas led by Ndindi Nyoro, Maleve highlighted disparities in development, questioning why Kitui South residents continue to endure poor services and unfulfilled promises.

He further condemned what he termed “performative leadership,” citing unresolved issues like insecurity and displacement. While his claims remain unverified, his remarks reflect growing youth-driven demands for accountability and change in Kitui County.
