Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga Champions Landmark KSh 300 Million Modern Market Project for Kabati

Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga, the County Minister for Lands and Urban Development and the incoming Member of Parliament for Kitui West in 2027, has intensified efforts to transform Kabati Market through the proposed construction of a modern market worth KSh 300 million, a major project expected to redefine trade and economic growth in the region.

The mega development project, which is a collaboration between the National Government and the County Government of Kitui, is set to become one of the biggest infrastructure investments ever witnessed in Kabati Market and the larger Kitui West Constituency.

During a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at Kabati Market, leaders and residents unanimously prioritized the construction of the ultra-modern market at the current Kabati Market site, saying the project will revolutionize business activities and improve the livelihoods of hundreds of traders operating in the area.

The proposed modern market, estimated to cost KSh 300 million, will accommodate more than 500 traders and is expected to feature world-class facilities including cool rooms for preservation of perishable goods, a hotel, conference rooms, a modern kitchen, and a fully equipped ICT room aimed at empowering traders and supporting digital business operations.

Leaders noted that the market will not only improve the trading environment but also position Kabati as a major commercial hub in Kitui West and the entire county.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga said the modern market project represents a major economic breakthrough for the people of Kitui West and demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering local traders and creating opportunities for economic growth.

“This KSh 300 million modern market will completely transform Kabati. Our traders deserve modern facilities that match the growing economy. This project will create jobs, improve businesses, attract investors, and uplift the livelihoods of our people,” said Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from both the county and national governments, including Chief Officer for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Evans Mutemi and Kelvin Musyoma, the County Coordinator for the State Department of Housing.

Also present were Kauwi Ward MCA Hon. Gabriel Munyao, the County Administrator, the Chief of Kabati, sub-chiefs, opinion leaders from Kitui West, members of the market committee, and other stakeholders.

Kauwi Ward MCA Hon. Gabriel Munyao applauded Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga for spearheading transformative projects in Kitui West and thanked him for championing the KSh 300 million modern market project alongside other infrastructure developments.

Hon. Gabriel Munyao stated that the project will open a new chapter of development in Kitui West by creating employment opportunities for youth, improving the business environment, and increasing economic activities in the area.
Residents and stakeholders expressed confidence that the modern market project will significantly boost trade, attract investors, and elevate Kabati Market into a modern business center capable of serving traders and customers from across Kitui County and neighboring regions.

The project further cements Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga’s growing image as a visionary and development-focused leader determined to bring transformative infrastructure and economic empowerment to the people of Kitui West ahead of the 2027 parliamentary elections.
