Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has secured major strategic partnerships aimed at transforming water security, boosting food production and strengthening climate resilience across Makueni County.
The Governor on Wednesday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADS-E) and Rural Water Management Solutions (Kenya) in Wote, marking a significant step in his administration’s efforts to mobilize strategic partnerships and accelerate sustainable development for the people of Makueni.
Through the partnership with ADS-E, KSh 910 million will be invested over the next three years to support climate-smart agriculture, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), environmental conservation, health and community resilience initiatives across the county.
The renewed collaboration with Rural Water Management Solutions (Kenya) will further expand access to safe and reliable drinking water through professional water management, digital technologies and the strengthening of existing water systems.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Mutula said the partnerships demonstrate his administration’s commitment to leveraging strategic collaborations to deliver sustainable and tangible development outcomes for the people of Makueni.
He emphasized the need for prudent utilization of available resources, urging the partners to prioritize sustainability, protect water infrastructure from vandalism and ensure that the projects deliver measurable improvements in the lives of residents.
Governor Mutula further underscored the importance of investing in climate-smart agriculture, reliable water systems and environmental conservation as key pillars in strengthening food security, improving livelihoods and building communities that are resilient to the effects of climate change.
The MoUs reaffirm Governor Mutula’s commitment to forging strong partnerships that complement the County Government’s development agenda and accelerate the delivery of essential services, particularly in water, agriculture, health, sanitation and environmental conservation.
Through these strategic collaborations, the Governor’s administration is positioning Makueni to achieve greater water security, enhanced food production and sustainable socio-economic development while building a more climate resilient future for its people.
