Hon. Nicholas Mulila’s grassroots engagement in Kitui South has received a major boost after community pillars in Kanziku and Mutha pledged to walk with him in his bid to become the next Governor of Kitui County.
The grassroots leaders reaffirmed their support for Mulila during a series of engagements where they discussed the future of Kitui and the leadership the county needs ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mulila used the meetings to challenge his political competitors to explain their record of service to the people of Kitui instead of moving across the county making promises.
He said residents should demand to know what aspiring leaders had done for them, where they had worked and what they had contributed to the development of the county.
According to Mulila, political leaders should not be judged by the number of promises they make but by the impact of their past service.
He challenged his competitors to go to the people with a record of achievements and allow residents to compare what each leader had done for the county.
Mulila said Kitui residents had the right to ask tough questions and demand answers from anyone seeking their votes.
His message struck a chord with the grassroots pillars, who said they were ready to stand with him and support his journey to the county’s top office.
They described Mulila as a leader who was increasingly engaging the people directly and listening to their views instead of relying solely on political rallies.
Mulila said he would continue visiting different parts of Kitui to engage residents and build a movement anchored on accountability, unity and service.
As he consolidates his grassroots support, the incoming Governor has positioned the 2027 contest as a moment for Kitui residents to examine the record of every aspirant and choose a leader based on what they have done not merely what they promise to do.
