Rachael Kaki Nyamai Rescues Stranded Kitui South Teachers and Pupils After Officials Allegedly Abandon KSh 52,000 Hotel Bill.

Kitui South Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS has come to the rescue of teachers and pupils from Kitui South after they were allegedly left stranded at a hotel in Kitui Town with an unpaid bill of KSh 52,000 following celebrations for their outstanding performance at the Eastern Region Games.

According to reports, the teachers and pupils had been hosted for a celebratory dinner after emerging victorious at the regional competitions. The dinner was reportedly organized by Kitui County Chief Officers Gladys Mami Kivoto and Ferdinand Kathenge.

However, the celebrations reportedly turned into a distressing ordeal when the hotel demanded payment for the dinner, only for the officials who had allegedly organized the event to become unreachable. The Mutomo Sub-County Chair and County Treasurer is said to have made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the two officials, whose phones were reportedly switched off, leaving teachers and pupils stranded and uncertain about their next move.

The embarrassing situation was eventually brought to an end after Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai intervened and cleared the entire KSh 52,000 hotel bill, allowing the teachers and pupils to leave the premises without further inconvenience.

Speaking after the incident, the Kitui South MP condemned the alleged humiliation of teachers and schoolchildren, saying they deserved appreciation, respect and dignity for flying the Kitui South flag high at the Eastern Region Games.

Dr. Nyamai emphasized that children should never be dragged into political differences or subjected to embarrassment because of leadership failures. She called on leaders to act responsibly, honour their commitments and always put the welfare of learners first.

She further congratulated the teachers and pupils for their remarkable achievement, assuring them of her continued support for education, sports and all initiatives that nurture young talent in Kitui South.

The incident has sparked public debate, with many residents questioning how a celebration for victorious learners could reportedly end in such an embarrassing situation before the MP stepped in to resolve the matter.
