Speaker-aligned MCAs in the Machakos County Assembly are facing criticism after allegedly slashing allocations for key development projects and people-centred programmes in the 2026/2027 county budget.
The cuts have raised concern over funding for youth empowerment, bursaries, ECDE feeding programmes and other initiatives directly benefiting residents, with critics accusing the MCAs of undermining Machakos’ development agenda.
The MCAs have been branded “the enemy of Machakos development” and challenged to explain why essential projects and programmes were targeted for budget cuts.
Calls are now mounting for Governor Wavinya Ndeti to reject the budget and return it to the Assembly for reconsideration in the interest of Machakos residents.
