President William Ruto has commissioned the 132kV Kitui–Wote Substation in Matinyani, Kitui County, in a major investment expected to strengthen electricity supply and support economic growth across the region.
The 66-kilometre project closes a critical power transmission link between Garissa and Sultan Hamud, bringing more reliable electricity to over 40,000 people.
The investment is also expected to accelerate the adoption of clean energy, boost agribusiness and create new opportunities for businesses and farmers who depend on a stable power supply.
For residents of Kitui County and neighbouring areas, the project marks an important step towards improved electricity reliability, increased productivity and sustainable economic development.
