Shock in Kitui as Journalist Emmanuel Maleve Arrested by DCI Officers in Broad Daylight

In a startling turn of events, Emmanuel Maleve, a respected digital journalist with Hopkin Media and TV, was dramatically arrested this afternoon in Kitui town by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Maleve, widely known for his fearless reporting on political and social issues, was seized by plainclothes detectives under tight security. Witnesses at the scene described a swift operation, with Maleve taken by surprise and bundled into an unmarked vehicle before he could react.

According to fellow journalists present during the incident, the arresting officers claimed they were acting on direct orders from the DCI Headquarters in Kiambu.

“We have clear instructions to apprehend him. Any further details will come from Nairobi,” one officer reportedly stated.

The arrest has triggered concern across Kenya’s media landscape, particularly within Kitui, where Maleve is a prominent voice. The Media Council of Kenya has been notified, and journalists are urging transparency regarding the circumstances of his arrest.

“This is a worrying trend,” said a senior journalist who requested anonymity. “We must protect press freedom at all costs.”

While the official reason for the arrest remains undisclosed, sources suggest it may be linked to recent investigative stories Maleve was working on. He is currently being transported to the DCI Headquarters in Kiambu for further questioning.
