Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence witnessed in various parts of the country, warning that the government will not allow Kenya to descend into lawlessness and disorder.
Speaking during an Economic Empowerment Engagement in Kambu, Kibwezi East Constituency, Prof. Kindiki described Wednesday’s incidents which resulted in the tragic loss of lives, injuries, and destruction of both public and private property as shameful, unfortunate, and a major setback to the nation’s socio-economic progress.
“We shall not allow our country to slide into anarchy and lawlessness,” the Deputy President affirmed. “Such acts of violence are unacceptable and shall not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Prof. Kindiki further reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), particularly those led by women, as a crucial pillar in driving grassroots economic transformation.
“Our determination to empower the Micro and Small Enterprises is unstoppable, notwithstanding the negativity and criticism from detractors,” he stated.
During the visit, the Deputy President engaged with local women entrepreneurs under their SACCOs, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to expanding economic opportunities at the community level. The event saw the distribution of financial support and empowerment resources aimed at boosting small-scale enterprises and improving livelihoods.
Several leaders joined Prof. Kindiki at the event, including MPs Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Fabian Kyule (Kangundo), Joshua Mwalyo (Masinga), Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), and other grassroots leaders.
The Deputy President’s visit comes at a time when the country continues to navigate a delicate socio-political environment, with the government emphasizing unity, peace, and inclusive economic development as the way forward.
