Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of ordinary Kenyans through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), describing it as more than just a campaign slogan but a tangible and ongoing mission to uplift micro and small enterprises across the country.
Speaking during a high-level Economic Empowerment Program in Hola Town, Galole Constituency, Prof. Kindiki announced that the government, through the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme, will begin disbursing KSh 50,000 to 70 micro and small enterprises in each of the 1,450 wards nationwide. The initiative, set to begin this month, is designed to stimulate enterprise growth and create thousands of jobs for Kenyan youth.
“Our commitment to support Mama Mboga, boda boda operators, hawkers, jua kali artisans, and small traders is unwavering. The BETA framework is our blueprint to restore dignity and financial stability at the grassroots,” the Deputy President emphasized.
In further efforts to enhance local commerce and agriculture, Prof. Kindiki revealed that the government is investing KSh 55 million in the construction of a modern market in Hola, Galole Constituency. Additional markets will also be developed in Bura and Garsen Constituencies to provide a safe, secure, and conducive trading environment for local farmers, vendors, and consumers.
He also announced that KSh 438 million has been allocated to Tana River County for last-mile electricity connectivity. The investment aims to increase household access to power and support rural economic development through improved infrastructure and services.
The Deputy President was joined by a host of national and local leaders, including Cabinet Secretary for Mining Ali Hassan Joho, Galole MP Said Buya Hiribae, National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, and Garsen MP Ali Wario. Also in attendance were MPs Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Amina Mnyazi (Malindi), Joseph Lekuton (Laisamis), Dekow Mohamed Barrow (Garissa Township), Sabina Chege (Nominated), and several others. President’s Aide Farouk Kibet, members of the Tana River County Assembly, and grassroots leaders also graced the event.

The event highlighted the government’s push to deliver inclusive economic development by placing women and youth at the heart of its empowerment strategy.
“Economic dignity is not a privilege for the few, it is a right for all. And today, in Tana River and beyond, we are walking the talk,” Prof. Kindiki concluded.
