Police officers from Miambani Police Station in Kitui Central Sub-county have arrested a suspect in connection with the violent robbery of an elderly woman in the Kiviu area. The suspect, identified as Syengo Mulwa, is accused of attacking the elderly woman and stealing Ksh 54,000 from her.
According to reports, the suspect assaulted the woman, leaving her seriously injured, before fleeing the scene. The incident took place within the Kiviu area, and the suspect is believed to have gone into hiding shortly after committing the crime.
A multi-agency search was launched, officers successfully apprehended the suspect while he was hiding in a thicket in Yalatani village, located in Mutonguni Ward, Kitui West Sub-county.
The arrest was confirmed by Priscah Kavindu, the Assistant Chief of Nzune Sub-location under Miambani Location. She lauded the swift action of the officers and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in dealing with criminal elements.
The suspect is currently in custody at Miambani Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
