Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development as he launched a comprehensive development tour in Kee Ward, starting with a high-impact visit to Kivani.
In a major boost to community empowerment, the Governor handed over four large-capacity event tents, each accommodating 100 people, to four local welfare groups comprising 1,315 members. The support is part of the county’s broader strategy to strengthen social and economic structures at the ward level.
Further demonstrating the County’s investment in youth and employment, two boda boda riders received their driving licenses fully sponsored by the County Government of Makueni enabling them to operate legally and safely on the roads.
Speaking during the event, Governor Mutula emphasized his focus on bolstering the newly established Mbooni-Kee Municipality, terming it a game-changer in improving local governance and service delivery. “We are laying down a firm foundation for structured urban development and efficient service delivery. Kee Ward is a critical part of this transformation,” he said.
In a major infrastructural announcement, Governor Mutula revealed plans to expand the Kivani Dam to enhance water supply for residents. He also disclosed that solar power will be connected to boreholes across the Ward to ensure reliable and sustainable access to water a move aligned with the County’s climate-smart development agenda.
The tour was graced by a host of county leaders, including Kee Ward MCA Urbanus Manzu, who praised the Governor for championing rural electrification and water extension projects that have already begun transforming the lives of the people in Kivani-Kee.
Also present were County Assembly Majority Leader Kisungi wa Katete, CECMs Nicholas Nzioka (Devolution) and Japheth Mang’oka (Water), along with MCAs Kyalo Mumo (Tulimani), Bishop Jonathan Muthoka (Ilima), and Jackson Ndolo.
Governor Mutula’s tour underscored his administration’s deliberate focus on inclusive development, effective service delivery, and elevating the dignity of Makueni residents through practical, community-driven solutions.
