Ruto Defies ‘One-Term’ Chants, Says Kenyans Will Decide in 2027

President William Ruto has dismissed calls from critics urging his exit after a single term, insisting that only Kenyans will determine his political future during the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at State House during the Nairobi County Empowerment Programme, Ruto said the “one-term” rhetoric will not distract him from implementing his manifesto. He stressed that his administration remains focused on delivering its promises and transforming the country.

“We will not succumb to blackmail or threats of a one-term presidency. Our commitment is to the transformation of Kenya,” the President stated.

Ruto also defended the Hustler Fund against its detractors, revealing that it has disbursed over Ksh.72 billion to 26 million Kenyans and mobilised over Ksh.5 billion in savings. He criticised those dismissing the fund’s impact, arguing that they are out of touch with the struggles of ordinary citizens.

His remarks come after ODM leader Raila Odinga also urged Kenyans to give the government space to deliver, stating that the electorate will have the final say in 2027. Odinga, who was speaking at the burial of Dr. Phoebe Asiyo in Homa Bay County, brushed off the “one-term” slogan, saying it should not distract the government from service delivery.
