Eight people lost their lives on Saturday morning following a grisly road accident in the Korompoi area along the Namanga Kitengela Road in Kajiado County.
The collision, which occurred near dawn, involved a lorry and a 14-seater matatu operated by Nailepu Sacco. According to eyewitness accounts, the lorry driver was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it crashed head-on into the matatu travelling towards Kitengela from Isinya town.
Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Simon Lokitari confirmed the fatalities, noting that the bodies had been taken to Kitengela Level 4 Hospital mortuary. One survivor, who sustained severe injuries, is receiving treatment at the same facility and remains in critical condition.
Authorities have launched investigations into the incident to establish the exact cause of the crash.
