Governor Mutula Accelerates Healthcare Transformation with Mbooni’s 150-Bed Hospital Project

Governor Mutula Accelerates Healthcare Transformation with Mbooni’s 150-Bed Hospital ProjectMakueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revolutionizing healthcare delivery across the county, with the ongoing  of a state-of-the-art 150-bed hospital in Mbooni Sub-County marking a major milestone.

On Thursday, Governor Mutula inspected the New Mbooni Family Hospital site to assess progress, assuring residents that the modern facility will be completed before the end of the year. The hospital, he said, is a flagship project under his broader vision to deliver accessible, reliable, and high-quality healthcare to every corner of Makueni.

“This hospital is not just about bricks and mortar—it is about dignity, life, and giving our people the healthcare services they deserve, right here at home,” Governor Mutula emphasized.

Once complete, the Mbooni hospital will house specialized units including maternity, pediatrics, gynecology, newborn care, casualty, laboratory, pharmacy, and a fully equipped theatre. The governor noted that the facility will ease the burden on existing hospitals while bringing advanced medical services closer to families in Mbooni and beyond.

Governor Mutula further highlighted that similar health infrastructure projects are underway across the county, reflecting his administration’s determination to ensure that no resident travels long distances in search of essential medical care.

“The health and wellbeing of our people is at the heart of my agenda. Makueni must lead the way in showing that devolution works by guaranteeing quality healthcare to all,” he added.

The 150-bed hospital is widely seen as a game-changer that will not only improve health outcomes but also create employment opportunities for medical professionals and support staff in the region.
