The County Government of Kitui has provided essential relief supplies to 39 families displaced following recent attacks in Musenge Village, Mutha Ward, Kitui South Sub-County.
The emergency assistance included food items such as maize, rice, cooking oil, and beans, aimed at addressing immediate nutritional needs.
To enhance sanitation and daily living, non-food items including 20-litre jerricans for fetching water, buckets, soap, and dignity kits for women and girls and blankets were distributed to the affected households.
To support the continuity of learning for displaced children, the county provided exercise books, pens, and pencils, ensuring they can continue with their education despite the crisis.
Additionally, to ensure access to clean water, the county distributed two 10,000-litre water tanks and deployed water bowers to fill them.
According to Kitui CECM for Finance, Peter Mwikya the distribution is part of the county’s ongoing commitment to support vulnerable families, ensuring they have access to food, clean water, education, and essential household items during this challenging period.
The CECM was accompanied by Chief Officers Gladys Kivoto (Agriculture and Fisheries), Stephen Salee (Decentralised Units), and Francisca Kyuii (Disaster Management), who jointly oversaw the relief efforts, including the installation of the water tanks and coordination of the water bowers.
