Machakos County Governor, Wavinya Ndeti, has continued to transform the lives of young people and residents across Machakos through her visionary empowerment and skills development programs aimed at creating jobs and promoting self-reliance.
In one of her most impactful initiatives yet, Governor Wavinya recently presided over a graduation ceremony where more than 1,000 youth successfully completed technical and vocational training in various disciplines offered across the county’s Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).
The graduates undertook courses in Plumbing, Food & Beverage, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy (Cosmetology), Electrical & Electronics, Fashion & Design, Masonry, and Event Management & DJ Studies.
Each graduate was issued with a complete set of professional tools and equipment relevant to their field of study to enable them to immediately start their career journeys, open small businesses, and contribute meaningfully to the county’s economic growth.
Speaking during the colorful event, Governor Wavinya reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to delivering “real empowerment” that directly improves livelihoods, promotes self-employment, and uplifts families.
“Our focus as a government is to give our youth not just skills, but also the means to use them. By providing tools of trade, we are giving them hope, dignity, and the power to transform their own lives,” said Governor Wavinya.
She emphasized that the empowerment initiative forms part of her broader agenda to position Machakos as a model county for youth development, skills training, and economic transformation.
“We are building a future where every young person can stand on their own feet, create opportunities for others, and drive the progress of our great county,” she added.
The graduates and their families expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for her consistent efforts to empower the youth and make skills training meaningful. County leaders and education officials present hailed the program as a game-changer in tackling unemployment and promoting innovation among the youth.
This initiative is closely aligned with Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s Machakos Vision 2030 Development Agenda, which prioritizes skills empowerment, industrial growth, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods. By investing in technical education and providing practical tools of trade, her administration is laying a strong foundation for a self-reliant, productive, and prosperous Machakos.
Through these strategic programs, Governor Wavinya is not only transforming individual lives but also shaping the county’s long-term economic destiny proving that real empowerment is the key to real development.
