Machakos residents have unleashed a blistering attack on Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, warning him to stop meddling in county affairs and to respect Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s leadership before the situation escalates further. The residents say they are tired of what they describe as Mutua’s consistent habit of poking holes, causing unnecessary tension, and stirring political chaos in a county he no longer governs.
In gatherings across Machakos, furious residents declared that Mutua must back off and allow Governor Wavinya to deliver her mandate without his constant interference. They accused the former governor of behaving as though the county still revolves around him, even after completing his ten-year tenure ten years that they say were not interrupted by anyone, including Wavinya.
“Let Mutua be told in clear terms: he had his time. Ten good years. Nobody disturbed him, not even Governor Wavinya. So why is he now hovering around trying to disrupt her work?” one resident in Kangundo said angrily, capturing the growing resentment.
Residents say they will not sit back and watch the CS disrespect the woman they overwhelmingly entrusted to steer the county. They insist that Machakos has moved on and is firmly under Governor Wavinya’s leadership, and any attempts by Mutua to belittle or overshadow her will be met with strong resistance.
Governor Wavinya herself recently reminded Mutua to exercise restraint and maturity, noting that during his reign, she never once interfered with his programs or created unnecessary friction.
“When Mutua was governor, I never disturbed him. I respected his office. Now I expect him to respect mine,” Wavinya stated firmly, in what many believe was a direct response to the CS’s growing political provocations.
Residents now say Mutua’s behavior is not only disrespectful but also dangerously divisive, threatening to derail development and destabilize the county for personal political gain. They are demanding that he tones down, keeps off Machakos politics, and lets Wavinya work.
“We will not accept any leader no matter their position trying to bring confusion here,” a resident from Mwala said. “Mutua must understand that Machakos is not his playground anymore. He has a national job. He should do it and leave our governor alone.”
Machakos residents have now drawn a hard line:
CS Alfred Mutua must stop undermining Governor Wavinya Ndeti, stop the political theatrics, and respect the will of the people before their patience runs out.
