Kalonzo Musyoka Questions Credibility of IEBC Leadership, Calls for Removal of Marjan Hussein

Wiper Patriotic Front leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has called for the removal of IEBC official Marjan Hussein Marjan, citing incompetence and a serious lack of public trust in his leadership.

Speaking during a public gathering in Kitui County, Dr. Kalonzo said the credibility of Kenya’s electoral process is at risk if officials who do not command confidence are allowed to remain in office. He argued that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must be led by individuals who are professional, impartial, and trusted by all Kenyans.

Dr. Kalonzo warned that failure to address leadership concerns within the IEBC could undermine democracy and create unnecessary tension ahead of future elections. He insisted that electoral integrity cannot be compromised and must be protected at all costs.
Supporting the Wiper leader’s position, Makueni County Senator Daniel Kitonga Maanzo echoed the call for Marjan’s removal, describing him as incompetent and unfit to oversee electoral affairs.

The senator said the continued stay of Marjan in office erodes public confidence in the commission and weakens faith in democratic institutions.
Senator Maanzo emphasized that credible elections begin with credible leadership, urging relevant authorities to take decisive action to restore trust in the IEBC. He noted that Kenyans expect transparency and accountability from institutions tasked with safeguarding the vote.

The remarks by the two leaders come amid renewed political debate on electoral reforms and leadership at the IEBC, with opposition figures demanding urgent changes to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in the country.
