Governor Wavinya Ndeti Reaffirms Commitment to Business-Friendly Policies in Talks With Manufacturers

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti continued to entrench her administration’s pro-investment agenda as the County Government intensified engagements with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) to address emerging issues affecting industrial growth in the county.

In a consultative meeting held in Nairobi, county officers led by the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industry, Tourism, SMEs and Innovation, Hon. Sharon Mutua, met KAM leadership, including its Chief Executive Officer and senior officials, to deliberate on strengthening public–private collaboration. The meeting followed up on matters previously raised during the Industrial Roundtable Investor Forum and a series of high-level engagements held earlier with Governor Ndeti.

The discussions were anchored on the governor’s vision of positioning Machakos as a premier investment destination through responsive leadership, investor-friendly policies, and structured engagement with the private sector. Governor Ndeti, as the Chief Executive Officer of the county government, had previously underscored the importance of continuous dialogue with manufacturers to ensure that county policies support, rather than hinder, industrial operations.

Key issues addressed during the meeting included concerns raised by KAM members over revised permit renewal fees and charges introduced under the Finance Act 2025, regulatory compliance and enforcement challenges, and the need for improved coordination between the county government and industry players. County officials reiterated that the Ndeti administration remained open to feedback and committed to reviewing policy and administrative frameworks to enhance ease of doing business.
The county government also sought the support of manufacturers for an upcoming industrial mapping exercise, an initiative championed by Governor Ndeti to generate accurate data that would inform evidence-based policy formulation for the manufacturing sector. The exercise was expected to help the county better understand industry needs, streamline service delivery, and plan targeted interventions.

Further deliberations highlighted the vast opportunities presented by the Machakos County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP), a flagship project under Governor Ndeti’s development agenda. Once completed, the park was projected to be a game changer in value addition, reduction of post-harvest losses, and attraction of new local and international investments.
Through sustained engagement with industry stakeholders, the Machakos County Government, under the leadership of Governor Wavinya Ndeti, reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a conducive, predictable, and business-friendly environment, strengthening its position as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the country.
