Wavinya Ndeti delivered a bold and forward-looking State of the County Address, underscoring her administration’s transformative strides in the health sector and reaffirming her commitment to accessible, quality healthcare for all residents.
Speaking with conviction and clarity, Governor Ndeti stated that her government had constructed 22 new healthcare facilities across the county, a move she described as a deliberate effort to further devolve healthcare services to the grassroots. She emphasized that the expansion was aimed at reducing the distance residents especially mothers and children had to travel to access essential medical services.
The Governor noted that the newly established facilities had significantly improved access to primary healthcare, easing congestion in existing hospitals while ensuring that services were brought closer to the people. She observed that healthcare was a fundamental pillar of her development agenda and reiterated that no family should be forced to travel long distances in search of basic treatment.
In addition to expanding infrastructure, Governor Ndeti revealed that her administration was undertaking a large-scale upgrade of major health centers to elevate them to Level 4 status. She explained that the upgrade would enhance the capacity of the facilities to offer more specialized services, including improved maternal and child healthcare, diagnostic services, and inpatient care.
According to the Governor, the elevation of these health centers would not only strengthen service delivery but also reduce referrals to distant hospitals, thereby saving residents time and money. She maintained that investing in healthcare infrastructure was an investment in the dignity, productivity, and future of the county’s people.
Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to building a resilient and responsive health system, noting that the progress made so far was only the beginning of broader reforms intended to position the county as a model for effective devolved healthcare.
Her address painted a picture of a county steadily advancing toward improved service delivery, with healthcare taking center stage in her transformative leadership agenda.
