Makali Mulu Joins Faithful at Kweluu Parish to Celebrate Rev. Fr. John Munyoki’s Silver Jubilee

Kitui gubernatorial hopeful and Kitui Central Member of Parliament Makali Mulu on Saturday joined hundreds of Catholic faithful at Kweluu Parish in Kyusyani for a special Mass marking the Silver Jubilee of Rev. Fr. John Munyoki, who was celebrating 25 years of dedicated priestly service.

Dr. Mulu, who attended the thanksgiving celebration alongside other leaders, praised Rev. Fr. Munyoki for his unwavering commitment to spiritual guidance, community development, and moral leadership throughout his ministry. He noted that the priest’s 25 years of service had touched many lives across the region, strengthening faith and unity among residents.

Addressing congregants after the Mass, Dr. Mulu emphasized the importance of servant leadership and called on leaders to emulate the dedication and humility demonstrated by clergy members like Rev. Fr. Munyoki. He said that faith institutions continue to play a vital role in shaping responsible communities and promoting values that foster peace and development.

“Twenty-five years of service is a remarkable milestone that reflects sacrifice, commitment, and love for the community,” Dr. Mulu said, congratulating Rev. Fr. Munyoki for his enduring dedication to the church and society.

The celebration attracted several political and community leaders who joined parishioners in honoring the priest’s milestone. Among those present were Charles Nguna, the Member of Parliament for Mwingi West; Kevin Kinengo, Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly; Alphonse Mukwaiyu, MCA for Kyome/Thaana Ward; and Fridah Maua, a nominated MCA representing the same ward.

The event brought together faithful from across the parish and neighboring areas in a joyful thanksgiving celebration marked by prayers, songs, and tributes to Rev. Fr. Munyoki’s pastoral work over the past quarter century.

Leaders present lauded the Catholic Church for its continued contribution to social transformation, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and community cohesion.

The Silver Jubilee celebration concluded with a message of unity and gratitude, as the faithful prayed for continued blessings and strength for Rev. Fr. Munyoki as he continues his pastoral mission.
