‎Machakos Strengthens Transparency Under Wavinya Ndeti as Key County Funds Receive Clean Audit Ratings ‎

The Government of Machakos County has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountable governance following Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s appearance before the Senate Public Accounts Committee to address the Auditor General’s report for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

While appearing before the Senate committee, Governor Ndeti outlined the progress her administration has made in strengthening financial oversight and improving accountability across county institutions.She informed the Committee that several county entities have now achieved clean audit reports, a milestone she attributed to reforms implemented by her administration to enhance transparency and proper management of public resources.Among the institutions that received clean audit ratings are the Receiver of Revenue (RoR), the Machakos County Bursary Fund, the Machakos County Climate Change Fund, and Mwala Level IV Hospital.‎Governor Ndeti noted that her administration has consistently honored invitations from the Senate, a practice that has strengthened cooperation between the county government and national oversight institutions. She emphasized that this openness has contributed significantly to improving financial management standards within the county.Members of the Senate Public Accounts Committee acknowledged the county government’s consistency in appearing before the Senate when called upon. The Office of the Auditor General of Kenya also expressed satisfaction with the county’s financial stewardship, recognizing the notable improvements made in financial accountability.Governor Ndeti reiterated that transparency and accountability remain the guiding principles of her administration, stressing that strong governance systems are essential in ensuring public funds deliver meaningful development.‎She affirmed that the county government will continue strengthening its financial systems and governance structures to ensure that responsible leadership translates into tangible benefits for residents across Machakos County.“Our administration remains committed to ensuring that accountability and transparency guide every decision we make in service to the people of Machakos County,” Governor Ndeti stated.She added that the county will continue working closely with oversight institutions to maintain high standards of financial discipline while delivering improved services and development to the people of Machakos.ENDS///…
