Sonko Dismisses Political Allegiance Claims, Says NEDP Will Serve All Kenyans

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has firmly dismissed claims that the National Economic Development Party (NEDP) is aligned with either the government or the opposition, asserting that the party is independent and committed to serving all Kenyans.

Speaking during a public address, Sonko who is the party leader of NEDP stated that attempts to brand the party as a political project of existing power blocs are misleading and aimed at undermining its growing influence. He emphasized that NEDP was founded on the principles of inclusivity, accountability, and people-centered leadership.

“Our party is not a project of the government or the opposition. NEDP belongs to the people of Kenya,” Sonko declared. “We are focused on delivering good governance, promoting economic empowerment, and ensuring that every Kenyan, regardless of their political affiliation, is heard and represented.”

Sonko noted that the party seeks to bridge the political divide that has long characterized the country’s leadership, promising a fresh approach that prioritizes development over political rivalry. He added that NEDP is positioning itself as a unifying force that will champion transparency, integrity, and service delivery across all sectors.

The former governor further called on Kenyans to reject divisive politics and instead support leaders and parties that are committed to tangible progress. He underscored the need for a leadership model that places citizens at the center of decision-making, especially at a time when many are grappling with economic challenges.

As political realignments continue to take shape ahead of future elections, Sonko maintained that NEDP will remain steadfast in its mission to transform governance and uplift the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

“We are building a movement that is for everyone young and old, rich and poor. Kenya deserves leadership that works for all, not a select few,” he said.

Sonko’s remarks come amid increasing public interest in new political formations, with NEDP emerging as one of the parties seeking to redefine the country’s political landscape through a platform anchored on unity and development.ENDS///…
