Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Tuesday led mourners in paying a heartfelt tribute to the late Kennedy Mutua during an emotional burial ceremony held in Mwingi, Kitui County.
Speaking at the solemn gathering, the National Economic Development Party (NEDP) leader conveyed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a painful moment not only for the bereaved family but also for the wider community.
“We have laid our brother Kennedy Mutua to rest, and our hearts are heavy,” Sonko said, his voice weighed down with emotion. “Words feel small in the face of such loss, and the pain runs deep.”
Sonko urged the grieving family and mourners to find solace in their faith, emphasizing that even in the darkest moments, God remains close to those who are hurting. He reminded them that divine comfort and strength are ever-present, especially in times of sorrow.
“But even in this sorrow, God reminds us that He sees every tear, hears every cry, and is close to the brokenhearted,” he added.
The former governor encouraged the family to remain strong and hold on to hope, noting that pain and grief, though overwhelming, are temporary. He reassured them that God’s love would provide the strength needed to endure the difficult days ahead.
“As we mourn, may we find comfort in His promise that this pain will not last forever, and that His love will carry us through even the darkest moments,” Sonko said.
He concluded his message by offering prayers for peace and resilience to the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss, calling on them to support one another during the grieving period.
“To the family and all who are grieving, may God wrap you in His peace, strengthen you when you feel weak, and grant you comfort beyond understanding. Hold on, stay strong God is with you, even now,” he said.
The burial ceremony drew leaders, family members, and residents from across the region, all united in mourning and in celebration of the life of Kennedy Mutua.
