Residents of Slaughter area in Kitui Township Ward, Kitui Central Constituency, were left in shock after the body of a 38-year-old woman was found dumped under unclear circumstances.
According to reports, locals made the grim discovery before alerting the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area as investigations began.
The officers later moved the body to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination was expected to help establish the cause of death.
The incident sparked fear and concern among residents, who called on security agencies to speed up investigations and ensure those responsible were brought to justice.
Police said investigations had been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
