Kitui Rural Political Tide Turns: 2000 Residents Back Mbaki Mbaki, Sending Incumbent Camp into Panic

A major political shift is taking shape in Kitui Rural Constituency after residents openly declared their support for Hon. John Kisangau, popularly known as Mbaki Mbaki wa Kyo Mweene, signaling a potential upset ahead of the 2027 General Elections

The declaration was made at Kiusyani in Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward, Kitui Rural, during a high-energy grassroots engagement for the UDA elections that drew a massive crowd of more than 2,000 residents. The turnout and unified message from the gathering underscored the growing political momentum behind Kisangau’s bid.

The event was attended by several key leaders, including former Cabinet Secretary Penninah Malonza, Commissioner Ben Muasya, Esther Kalunda, and Moses Mbanda, among other influential figures who joined residents in endorsing Kisangau’s leadership.

In a series of grassroots engagements across the constituency, residents voiced growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership, stating that the time has come for a transformative leader who can deliver tangible development. The electorate now says the political ground has decisively shifted away from the incumbent Member of Parliament, sending shockwaves through the Wiper Patriotic Front camp.

Led by local opinion leaders, youth groups, and community elders, the residents praised Kisangau as a proactive and people-centered leader. They emphasized his close working relationship with President William Ruto, noting that his ability to lobby for national government projects gives him a clear advantage in steering development in the region.

“Mbaki Mbaki is a true leader. He understands our needs and has shown commitment by working closely with the national government to bring development projects here,” said one resident during the gathering.

The locals further expressed confidence that Kisangau’s leadership would unlock stalled projects, improve infrastructure, and create economic opportunities for the youth and women in Kitui Rural.

In a bold and unified declaration, the residents vowed to rally behind Kisangau in the upcoming elections, describing him as the leader of the future. “This is the leader we want. Come 2027, the vote is decided Mbaki Mbaki is our next MP,” another resident asserted amid cheers from the crowd.

Political analysts now say the unfolding developments could significantly reshape the constituency’s political landscape, especially as the Wiper Patriotic Front faces mounting pressure to retain its traditional stronghold.

The growing wave of support for Kisangau is reportedly causing unease within the incumbent’s camp, with insiders hinting at rising panic as the ground continues to shift rapidly.

With the 2027 race beginning to take shape, Kitui Rural appears headed for a fiercely contested political battle one that could redefine its leadership for years to come.
