Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable and equitable water services to residents across Machakos County following a high-level strategic review session with the Department of Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Environment and Climate Change and County Water Service Providers.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders in the water sector to assess ongoing projects, evaluate infrastructure needs and chart a clear roadmap towards strengthening water access across the county.
Speaking during the session, Governor Wavinya Ndeti emphasized that access to clean and reliable water remains one of her administration’s top development priorities, noting that strategic investments in water infrastructure are critical to improving livelihoods, public health and economic growth.
The review session focused on detailed plans for the repair, rehabilitation and solarization of boreholes aimed at enhancing water production while reducing operational costs through the adoption of green energy solutions.
The team also conducted assessments of dams and water treatment facilities to identify interventions needed to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Among the major projects reviewed were the Mwala Cluster II Last Mile Connectivity Project and the Masinga Water Supply Project, both of which are expected to significantly boost access to clean water for thousands of households once fully implemented.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti lauded the close collaboration between the County Government and Sub-County administration in consolidating comprehensive data on all county boreholes. She noted that the data-driven approach will play a key role in guiding sustainable investments, improving planning and ensuring efficient management of water resources across the county.
“Our focus is to ensure every resident has access to reliable and sustainable water services. Through strategic partnerships, proper planning and investment in modern infrastructure, we are laying a strong foundation for long-term water security in Machakos County,” said the Governor.
The county government continues to prioritize initiatives that enhance access to clean water, strengthen climate resilience and improve sanitation services as part of its broader agenda to transform the lives of residents and accelerate socio economic development across the county.
