Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has once again demonstrated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of Kitui residents after commissioning key multimillion-shilling development projects in Mui Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency.
In a major boost to water access and healthcare services, Governor Malombe commissioned the KSh 17 million Kaki–Kilali Sump Well Water Supply Project, a landmark initiative aimed at addressing persistent water shortages in the region and improving the livelihoods of hundreds of families.
The ambitious project, implemented under the stewardship of the County Government of Kitui, is already serving critical public institutions including Lundi Primary School, Kyamwenze Secondary School, and Lundi Dispensary under the management of KIMWASCO.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his government’s dedication to ensuring every resident has access to clean and safe water, noting that water remains a key pillar of his administration’s development agenda.
The modern water project comprises a fully equipped submersible pump and accessories, rising main pipeline, distribution lines, air valves, washouts, a 100-cubic-metre masonry water tank, a guard house, solar modules, a pit latrine, and three water kiosks expected to serve approximately 1,500 residents.
Governor Malombe further revealed that plans are already underway to expand the pipeline through Musokani to Kathonzweni Shopping Centre and Mui Dispensary, with the long-term target of reaching over 1,000 households in the area.
Residents praised the governor for prioritizing essential services and delivering impactful projects that directly address the needs of ordinary wananchi, describing the water project as a game changer for the community.
Later in the evening, Governor Malombe continued his development tour by commissioning a newly constructed maternity wing and a renovated outpatient block at Yumbu Dispensary, further cementing his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across Kitui County.
The health facility upgrade is expected to significantly improve maternal healthcare and outpatient services, easing the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances in search of quality medical attention.
Governor Malombe emphasized that his administration is focused on improving healthcare infrastructure, equipping medical facilities, and ensuring residents receive dignified and accessible healthcare services.
Area MCA Cornelius Muthami lauded the governor for the transformative projects, saying the new maternity wing and upgraded outpatient block will greatly enhance healthcare delivery in the area.
The twin commissioning projects once again showcased Governor Malombe’s development-oriented leadership, with residents hailing him as a visionary leader committed to transforming Kitui through practical and people-centered initiatives.
