Kitui County Receives Boost in Fight Against Snake Bites as Health Ministry Gets Anti-Snake Venom Donation

The Kitui County Government Ministry of Health has received a major boost in the fight against snake bite cases after receiving a donation of 100 doses of anti-snake venom from Nairobi Enterprises Ltd.

The donation, which is expected to strengthen emergency response in health facilities across the county, comes at a time when snake bite incidents continue to pose a serious health threat in several parts of Kitui County, especially in remote and semi-arid areas where residents frequently encounter snakes.

Speaking to members of the press after officially receiving the anti-snake venom, Kitui Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies, Aggrey Kamba, lauded Nairobi Enterprises Ltd for the timely support, saying the donation will go a long way in saving lives and improving emergency medical care within the county.

Aggrey Kamba further urged residents across Kitui County to seek immediate medical attention whenever they encounter a snake bite, warning against delays and reliance on traditional treatment methods that could worsen the condition.
He emphasized that quick medical intervention remains the most effective way of preventing deaths and severe complications arising from venomous snake bites.

“Once one has encountered a snake bite, it is very important to rush to the hospital immediately so that proper treatment can be administered in good time,” said Kamba.

The chief officer noted that the county government remains committed to ensuring health facilities are adequately equipped with essential drugs and emergency supplies in order to safeguard the lives of residents.
The donation is expected to benefit several health centres and hospitals across Kitui County, particularly areas that frequently record snake bite cases due to the region’s dry climatic conditions and vast bushy environment.

Residents have welcomed the move, terming it as a major relief that will help address challenges associated with accessing life-saving anti-snake venom treatment in the county.

Health officials have also continued to sensitize members of the public on the importance of seeking immediate professional medical care whenever snake bite incidents occur.
