Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to improving healthcare access across the county following the official commissioning of the Kamuthanga Dispensary Maternity Ward in Mutituni/Ngelani Ward.
The newly established maternity facility is set to transform maternal and child healthcare services for more than 5,000 residents in the area by bringing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare closer to the community.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Wavinya Ndeti said the project is part of her broader vision to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure that every mother and child has access to safe and reliable medical services.
“This maternity ward is more than a building; it is a promise fulfilled to the people of Kamuthanga. It represents our commitment to safeguarding the lives of mothers and children by providing healthcare services closer to where people live,” said Governor Ndeti.
The facility will offer a wide range of essential maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, safe delivery services, postnatal care, immunization, and health education. Residents who previously traveled long distances to access maternity services will now receive care within their locality, reducing both transportation challenges and healthcare costs.
Governor Ndeti noted that investments in healthcare remain a key pillar of her administration’s development agenda, emphasizing that quality healthcare is fundamental to building strong and productive communities.
Health experts have welcomed the project, noting that increased access to maternal healthcare services plays a critical role in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates while improving overall community well-being. The new ward is expected to enhance early diagnosis, encourage hospital deliveries, and improve health outcomes for mothers and newborns.
The commissioning of the Kamuthanga Dispensary Maternity Ward adds to a series of healthcare development projects being undertaken by the county government under Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s leadership, aimed at expanding healthcare access and improving service delivery across Machakos County.
Residents expressed gratitude for the project, describing it as a timely intervention that will ease the burden on families and provide expectant mothers with dignified and professional care close to home.
As the county continues to invest in health infrastructure, Governor Wavinya Ndeti reiterated her administration’s resolve to prioritize people-centered development.
“We are not just building hospitals; we are transforming communities and creating a healthier future for our people. Our goal is to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to every resident of Machakos County,” she said.
The opening of the Kamuthanga Dispensary Maternity Ward marks another milestone in the county’s journey toward achieving universal healthcare access and improving the quality of life for residents.
