Malombe Signs Landmark Disability Inclusion Partnership

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the County Government of Kitui, Cheshire Disability Services Kenya and Caritas Kitui aimed at enhancing support for persons with disabilities.

The partnership, under the BEN-MAPP 2026–2030 programme, will focus on improving access to healthcare and rehabilitation services, inclusive education, economic empowerment, social inclusion and advocacy for persons with disabilities and their caregivers.

Governor Malombe said the initiative will complement ongoing county programmes, including the provision of assistive devices, bursaries for learners with special needs, registration for national support schemes and improved accessibility in public facilities.

The agreement was signed by Cheshire Disability Services Kenya CEO Ms. Cecelia Mutava, Kitui Catholic Diocese Bishop-Elect Rev. Fr. John Mbua Mwandi and county representatives led by Health Minister Hon. Ruth Koki Mwanzia, Education Minister Hon. Joyce Titus and Social Services Minister Hon. Phoebe Ndunyu Mutemi.

The partnership is expected to strengthen disability inclusion and improve the lives of thousands of beneficiaries across Kitui County.
