Incoming Kitui Senator Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele has strengthened his leadership credentials after completing the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP553/2026) at the Kenya School of Government, Embu Campus.
The programme brought together senior public servants for training on strategic leadership, ethics, integrity, professionalism and effective public service.
KSG Embu Campus Director Dr. Ann Kang’ethe challenged participants to move beyond simply learning about leadership and instead develop the character, values and mindset required to become transformative leaders.
For Dr. Kimwele, the training comes at a crucial time as he positions himself for the Kitui Senate seat, where effective representation requires competence in legislation, devolution, oversight, public policy and accountability.
His leadership credentials were further highlighted after Group 10, in which he participated, produced the best-ranked position paper and received a trophy from the KSG Director General.
The experience has added another layer to Dr. Kimwele’s preparation, reinforcing his philosophy of “sharpening the axe” through continuous learning, character development and preparation for greater responsibility.
As the Kitui Senate race takes shape, Dr. Kimwele is presenting himself as a candidate whose leadership journey is anchored on knowledge, integrity, competence and service.
Sharpening the axe today, preparing to serve Kitui tomorrow.
