Deputy President Kindiki Underscores Regional Unity as He Represents Kenya at President Samia Suluhu’s Inauguration

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki on Monday reaffirmed Kenya’s unwavering commitment to regional cooperation and economic integration as he represented President Dr. William Ruto at the historic inauguration of Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dodoma.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Kindiki emphasized Tanzania’s significance as one of Kenya’s most trusted neighbours and strategic economic partners, noting that the future of both countries is deeply intertwined through shared trade, peace, and development goals.

“Tanzania remains a key friendly neighbour and a strategic trade partner of Kenya. Our future is inextricably linked to a stable, peaceful and prosperous region within the context of the East African Community and the African Continental Free Trade Area,” DP Kindiki said.

In a powerful diplomatic message, the Deputy President reiterated Kenya’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, security, infrastructure, and regional mobility. He praised President Samia Suluhu’s leadership and extended Kenya’s warm wishes for Tanzania’s continued stability, unity, and economic prosperity.

“On behalf of Kenya and President William Ruto, I convey our heartfelt congratulations to President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Kenya wishes Tanzania long-term peace, stability and prosperity,” Prof. Kindiki noted.

The high-profile ceremony brought together an impressive roster of African leadership, signaling Tanzania’s growing diplomatic influence. Among attendees were the Presidents of Burundi, Zambia, Mozambique and Somalia, as well as the Vice Presidents of Uganda, Zimbabwe and the Comoros, alongside high-level delegations from numerous other countries.

Prof. Kindiki’s participation underscores Kenya’s expanding diplomatic footprint and his rising stature as a key figure in regional integration and continental diplomacy. His presence at the ceremony further reinforced Kenya’s message of partnership, unity and shared destiny across East Africa and the African continent.

The Deputy President returns to Kenya with renewed commitment to advancing cross-border collaboration, regional peace, and a robust economic agenda aligned with EAC and AfCFTA frameworks   a stance seen as critical for sustained growth and prosperity in East Africa.
