Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki on Saturday joined President William Samoei Ruto in a landmark engagement with more than 10,000 teachers at State House, Nairobi, during the Waalimu na Rais Forum.
The high-level meeting brought together educators from across the country to deliberate on the future of Kenya’s education sector, underscoring the government’s recognition of teachers as a cornerstone in shaping the nation’s destiny.
President Ruto, accompanied by his deputy, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of teachers, improving the quality of education, and strengthening collaboration between the government and stakeholders in the education sector.
The forum, held under the banner “Waalimu na Rais”, provided teachers with a direct platform to engage with the Head of State and his deputy on critical issues, including curriculum reforms, infrastructure development in schools, and policies to empower educators.
Prof. Kindiki lauded teachers for their unwavering dedication to nurturing the country’s future leaders, noting that the government remains committed to supporting their professional and personal growth.
“The teaching profession is one of the noblest callings, and as a government, we are determined to ensure that teachers receive the respect, support, and recognition they deserve,” said the Deputy President.
