Former Minister Peninah Malonza Distributes 32 Water Tanks in kamutei, Ikutha, Urges Kitui Residents to Harvest Rainwater and Register as Voters

Former  Cabinet Secretary Hon. Peninah Malonza today continued her ongoing community empowerment and water access initiative by distributing 32 water tanks of 2,500 litres capacity to residents of Kamutei, Ikutha Ward, Kitui South Constituency.

The donation is part of her broader countywide water program, which has so far seen the distribution of 461 tanks across various constituencies in Kitui County, aimed at promoting water harvesting and storage at the household level.

Speaking during the handover event, Hon. Malonza encouraged residents to make the best use of the tanks, especially with the expected onset of the rainy season.

“Let us all take advantage of the coming rains to harvest and store water for domestic use. Water is life, and harvesting rainwater will go a long way in improving hygiene and reducing the burden of walking long distances in search of water,” said Hon. Malonza.

In addition to her water conservation appeal, the former minister used the opportunity to urge residents, especially the youth and Gen Zs, to come out in large numbers and register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“The future of this country belongs to our young people. I urge all unregistered Kenyans, particularly the youth, to ensure they register as voters and participate in shaping the leadership of our nation,” she emphasized.

Hon. Malonza also called on Kitui residents to turn out in large numbers during the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations, which will be hosted in Kitui County this year, to warmly welcome President William Ruto and showcase the unity and hospitality of the Kitui people.

“This is a proud moment for Kitui. Let us all come together to celebrate our heroes and give our President and visiting dignitaries a warm welcome,” she said.

Her message resonated with the residents, who praised her continued efforts in supporting community development initiatives, especially in water access and civic engagement.
