Mutonguni Ward came alive. as football enthusiasts thronged Mutonguni Grounds for the highly anticipated finals of the Mutonguni Super League. The thrilling tournament, which brought together several promising teams from the region, showcased outstanding talent, discipline, and community spirit.
The competition featured top grassroots teams including Scorpion FC, Kiatine FC, Kutha FC, Kiamani FC, Kiwanzani FC, Kavonge FC, Utoo FC, Kololo FC, Muthale FC, and Younger Warriors FC — all determined to lift the prestigious community trophy and make their mark in local football history.
Kutha FC claimed third position in the tournament, walking away with well-deserved recognition after an impressive display of skill throughout the competition.
In a colourful prize-giving ceremony, Chief Guest and Kitui County CEC for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga, presented awards to the outstanding teams. The awards included:
1st Place: ( scorpion fc)A full jersey set and two footballs
2nd Place: (Kiatine fc) A jersey set and one football
3rd Place:(Kutha fc) A jersey set
4th Place: Two footballs
Other participating teams: One football each
Waziri Kimanga applauded the participating teams and reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing local sports talent. He emphasized that empowering young people through sports is key to building discipline, leadership, and community development.
“Sports is not just entertainment it is a powerful tool for growth and transformation. Our young stars deserve support, and I will continue standing with them as they pursue their dreams,” he said.
The CEC, fondly referred to as Generali, has continued to win admiration across Kitui West for his youth-focused development agenda and community-centered leadership. Residents hailed his presence and generous contributions, noting that his continued support for local talent solidifies him as a frontrunner for the Kitui West MP seat in the 2027 General Election.
With cheers and celebrations echoing through Mutonguni Grounds, the tournament marked yet another milestone in promoting sports and unity in the constituency. The young footballers walked away not only with trophies and kits but also renewed motivation inspired by leaders who believe in their potential.
