Residents of Kyome/Thaana Ward in Mwingi West Subcounty have received a major healthcare boost after Kitui Governor Julius Malombe officially commissioned the renovated Kanyekini Dispensary on Friday, 29 May 2026.
The health facility, renovated under Governor Malombe’s administration, is expected to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare services for residents of Kanyekini and the surrounding areas.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Kitui County to ensure residents receive medical services closer to their homes.
The local community warmly welcomed the project, describing it as a major milestone that will ease the burden of travelling long distances in search of medical attention. Residents expressed optimism that the dispensary will enhance healthcare delivery and improve the wellbeing of families in the region.
The event was attended by Kyome/Thaana Ward MCA Alphonse Mukwaiyu, nominated representative Jacinta Mwoni, alongside other local leaders and residents who turned up in large numbers to witness the commissioning.
The commissioning of Kanyekini Dispensary underscores the county government’s continued efforts to expand and modernize healthcare facilities as part of its broader agenda to improve service delivery across Kitui County.
