Governor Malombe Deepens Grassroots Healthcare with Commissioning of Kathungu Dispensary in Kitui South

Residents of Ikanga Kyatune Ward in Kitui South have received a major boost in healthcare access following the commissioning of the Kathungu Dispensary by Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.
The newly opened facility is set to bring essential medical services closer to the people, easing the burden of long-distance travel in search of treatment and reinforcing the county government’s commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare systems.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe emphasized that accessible and quality healthcare remains a cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda. He noted that bringing medical services closer to wananchi is not only about convenience but also a transformative step toward improving overall community well-being.

“Ensuring that our people can access quality healthcare near their homes is fundamental. It directly contributes to healthier communities and a more productive society,” the governor stated.
The project underscores the Malombe administration’s broader strategy of investing in people-centered development, particularly in underserved rural areas. By prioritizing health infrastructure, the county government aims to reduce preventable illnesses and improve timely medical interventions.

Ikanga MCA Cyrus Musyoka, who attended the event, lauded the governor’s leadership, highlighting the visible impact of ongoing development initiatives across the ward. He praised the county leadership for focusing on projects that directly improve the lives of residents.
“This dispensary is a clear indication that the current administration is committed to delivering tangible development at the grassroots level,” said Musyoka.

Governor Malombe was accompanied by several County Executive Committee Members and other local leaders, signaling a unified approach within the county leadership in driving development programs.

The commissioning of Kathungu Dispensary marks yet another milestone in Kitui County’s journey toward enhanced service delivery, with Governor Malombe positioning healthcare as a key pillar in uplifting livelihoods and fostering sustainable community growth.
