Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, has sent a heartfelt message of condolence to Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga and his family, describing him as “an extraordinary gentleman and one of the most iconic political figures of our time.”
In his message issued on behalf of his family and the great people of Kitui County, Governor Malombe expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the Odinga family during this difficult period of mourning, noting that Raila’s contributions to the nation will remain indelible in Kenya’s history.
“On behalf of my family and the great people of Kitui County, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga and his entire family during this moment of deep sorrow and mourning,” the governor said.
Dr. Malombe lauded Raila’s lifelong dedication to justice, democracy, and the empowerment of ordinary Kenyans, describing him as a selfless leader whose sacrifices transformed the nation’s political landscape.
“Raila Odinga’s courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy and equality remain unmatched. He has been at the forefront of Kenya’s struggle for multi-party democracy, devolution, and social justice,” said Malombe.
The governor went on to acknowledge Raila’s pivotal role in spearheading the push for Kenya’s new constitutional order, which birthed devolution — a system that brought governance closer to the people and empowered counties to drive their own development agendas.
He further credited the ODM leader for championing human rights, transparency, and inclusive governance, values that continue to shape Kenya’s democratic journey.
