Governor Mutula’s Agenda Drives Youth Climate Innovation Ahead of Konza Hackathon

Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr’s vision of a youth-driven, climate-resilient economy is taking shape as the county prepares for the landmark Hack-a-GreenFuture hackathon slated for October 24–26, 2025 at Konza Technopolis.

The three-day innovation challenge, organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will provide a platform for Makueni’s youth to showcase their creativity and design cutting-edge technological solutions to climate change a key priority in Governor Mutula’s manifesto.

Speaking during a briefing in Wote, county leaders emphasized that the hackathon is anchored in Governor Mutula’s development blueprint, which prioritizes climate action, digital transformation, and youth empowerment as drivers of Makueni’s future.

County Secretary Dr. Justin Kyambi affirmed the administration’s commitment, noting that Governor Mutula’s leadership has opened doors for collaborations that extend beyond climate resilience to areas such as healthcare systems integration and intellectual property rights for young innovators.

Victor Apollo, Head of Solution Mapping and Timbuktoo Focal Point at Konza Technopolis, hailed Makueni’s bold direction, stressing that the Governor’s focus on harnessing technology and innovation was setting new standards in tackling local and global challenges.

County Executive Committee Members Japheth Mang’oka (Education and ICT) and Sebastian Kyoni (Gender) echoed the message, pledging to fully mobilize the county’s youth in preparation for the hackathon.

The Hack-a-GreenFuture challenge is set to spotlight Makueni as a cradle of innovation, further cementing Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr’s legacy as a leader whose manifesto empowers young people to hack the future for a greener and more resilient world.
