Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned modern emergency medical equipment at Machakos County Referral Hospital in a major step toward strengthening emergency healthcare services across Machakos County.
The equipment includes oxygen cylinders, cardiac patient monitors, manual and electric suction machines, and crash carts for emergency drug storage. The supplies will be distributed to Machakos County Referral Hospital, Masii Level 4 Hospital, Matuu Level 4 Hospital, Athi River Level 4 Hospital, and Kangundo Level 4 Hospital to improve emergency response and patient care.
Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Wavinya said the investment reflects her administration’s commitment to building a responsive and efficient healthcare system capable of saving lives during emergencies.
The county is also strengthening its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) through the establishment of a call and dispatch centre, while ambulances will be equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) systems to enhance pre-hospital care.
Governor Wavinya thanked Malteser International for its continued partnership in advancing emergency healthcare services in Machakos County.
The initiative is expected to improve emergency preparedness, reduce preventable deaths, and enhance the quality of healthcare services across the county.
