Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned the rehabilitated Konza Worldwide Church Borehole in Kalama Ward, marking another milestone in her administration’s efforts to expand access to clean and reliable water across Machakos County.
With an estimated yield of 3.8 cubic metres per hour, the borehole will serve more than 1,800 residents of Kyanzasu and Konza sub-locations, providing a sustainable water source for households, schools, institutions, places of worship, and businesses.
Governor Wavinya said the project reflects her commitment to improving the welfare of residents through strategic investments in water infrastructure. The borehole is expected to enhance access to safe water, improve sanitation and hygiene standards, reduce water-borne diseases, and support local livelihoods and economic activities.
The project will also strengthen community resilience to drought and climate-related water shortages while easing the burden on residents who previously travelled long distances in search of water.
The commissioning of the borehole underscores the county government’s continued focus on delivering essential services and improving the quality of life for communities across Machakos County
